Germination of
Aeonium sp.
Tree Houseleek, Copper Pinwheel
Aeonium is a genus of succulent plants native to the Canary Islands. To germinate Aeonium seeds, start by filling a seed tray or a pot with a well-draining soil mix. Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil and gently press them down, then cover with a light layer of soil or vermiculite. Water the seeds gently and cover the tray or pot with plastic wrap or a clear plastic lid to create a humid environment. Place the tray or pot in a warm, bright location, but out of direct sunlight. Aeonium seeds can take anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks to germinate, so be patient and keep the soil consistently moist.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
