Germination of
Amorphophallus Bulbifer
Voodoo Lily: Devil's Tongue, Snake Palm, Black Dragon
Amorphophallus bulbifer is a tropical plant that requires warm temperatures to germinate successfully. The best time to sow the seeds is in the spring or summer when temperatures are consistently above 70F. Before sowing the seeds, prepare a well-draining potting mix that contains equal parts of peat moss, perlite, and sand. Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours before sowing them in the potting mix, burying them about 1-2 inches deep. Cover the pot with a plastic bag or plastic wrap to maintain high humidity levels and place it in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
