Germination of
Amorphophallus titanum
Corpse Flower - Titan Arum, Carrion Flower, Stinky Flower
The seeds of Amorphophallus titanum require a warm, humid environment to germinate. Fill a deep pot with a mixture of peat moss, sand, and perlite, and moisten the soil mixture with water. Sow the seeds on top of the soil mixture, and cover them with a thin layer of soil. Cover the pot with a clear plastic bag to create a humid environment and place it in a warm location with bright, indirect sunlight. Keep the soil moist by misting it with water regularly. The seeds should start germinating within 24week-36 months. Once the seedlings have developed their first set of true leaves, they can be transplanted into individual pots with well-draining soil.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
