Germination of
Aronia Melanocarpa
Black Chokecherry, Wild Black Cherry, Aronia melanocarpa.
Aronia Melanocarpa, commonly known as Black Chokeberry, can be germinated using the cold stratification method. Start by placing the seeds in a container of moist soil and store it in the refrigerator for 90 to 120 days. After the stratification period is complete, remove the container from the refrigerator and place it in a warm, sunny area. Ensure that the soil is kept moist and that the temperature is between 60-70F. The seeds should start to germinate within 2-4 weeks.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
