Germination of

Briza maxima

Quaking Grass - Briza maxima, Rattlesnake Grass, Quaking Grass, Large Quaking Grass

Briza maxima

Briza maxima: Briza maxima seeds should be sown on the surface of a container filled with well-draining potting soil. Lightly cover the seeds with soil and water gently. The container should be kept in a bright location out of direct sunlight and the soil should be kept moist but not waterlogged. Germination should occur in 2-4 weeks. Once the seedlings have emerged, they can be moved to individual containers or planted directly in the ground. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.

Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.

Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here.  Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only.  Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.

It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
