Germination of
Cephalocleistocactus ritteri
Ritter Cactus: Rat tail cactus, Mistletoe cactus
Cephalocleistocactus ritteri seeds should be sown in a well-draining cactus soil mix, and the soil should be kept moist but not waterlogged. The seeds require warmth to germinate, so a consistent temperature of 20-25C (68-77F) is recommended. A heating mat can be used to maintain the temperature. The seeds typically take 2-4 weeks to germinate. Once the seedlings have emerged, they can be transplanted into individual pots with a similar soil mix.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
