Germination of

Crotalaria pallida

Streaked rattlepod, Yellow birdflower, Crotalaria, Rattlebox, Showy rattlepod, Crotalaria spectabilis type

Crotalaria pallida

GERMINATION METHOD (direct sow vs start indoors, etc.) Sow in pots or direct sow into warm soil once conditions are stable. PRE-TREATMENT (scarification / stratification / soaking, only if required) Hot-water soaking is reported to enhance germination in research; stronger chemical scarification exists but can increase abnormal seedlings in some trials. SOWING DEPTH About 6–12 mm (¼–½ in.) deep. LIGHT REQUIREMENT (light/dark to germinate) Not critical. TEMP RANGE Warm. MOISTURE & MEDIUM Even moisture during emergence; avoid waterlogging. DAYS TO GERMINATE Often 1–3 weeks. NOTES (dormancy quirks, transplant tips, etc.) If coats are hard, use gentle hot-water treatment first. Thin seedlings early to reduce crowding.

Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.

Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here.  Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only.  Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.

It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
