Cucumis melo: These plants prefer well-draining soil with a mix of compost, sand, and peat moss. Sow the seeds 1/2 inch deep in the soil and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Place the pot in a warm, bright location. The seeds should germinate within 7-10 days.
