Germination of

Cupressus sempervirens

Mediterranean Cypress, Italian Cypress, Pencil Pine

Cupressus sempervirens

Cupressus sempervirens, commonly known as Italian cypress, is a tree that is native to the Mediterranean region. The seeds of this plant can be germinated indoors. They should be sown in a mix of peat moss and perlite or sand. The mix should be kept moist but not waterlogged, and the seeds should be lightly covered with soil. The ideal temperature range for germination is 70-85F (21-29C). Germination can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks.

Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.

Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here.  Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only.  Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.

It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
