Germination of

Drosera capensis "alba"

Albino Cape Sundew, White Cape Sundew, Cape Sundew.

Drosera capensis "alba"

To germinate Drosera capensis "alba," start by preparing a soil mix consisting of equal parts of peat moss and perlite. Sow the seeds on top of the soil and cover them lightly with a layer of sphagnum moss. Water the container from the bottom to keep the soil moist, and cover the container with a plastic bag to create a humid environment. Place the container in a location with bright, indirect light and maintain a temperature of 70-75F. The seeds should germinate in 2-4 weeks.

Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.

Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here.  Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only.  Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.

It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
