Germination of
Drosera intermedia
Spoonleaf Sundew: Drosera spatulata, Cape Sundew, Spoon-leaved Sundew, Dewy Pine
Drosera intermedia: The seeds of Drosera intermedia need to be sown in a mixture of peat moss and sand. Before sowing, the peat moss and sand mixture should be moistened with distilled water. After sowing, the seeds should be covered with a thin layer of the peat moss and sand mixture. The container should then be covered with plastic wrap or a clear lid to create a humid environment. The container should be placed under bright, indirect light and kept at a temperature between 60-70F (15-21C). The seeds should germinate in 1-2 weeks.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
