Germination of

Drosera spatulata 'Mixed'

Spatulata Sundew Mix: Cape Sundew, Dewy Pine, Drosera, Spatulata Mix

Drosera spatulata 'Mixed'

Drosera spatulata 'Mixed', commonly known as Spoon-leaved Sundew, requires a well-draining soil mix with some peat moss and sand or perlite added. The seeds should be sown just below the soil surface and watered lightly to keep the soil moist. Germination can take several weeks to a few months and may benefit from bottom heat around 20-25C (68-77F). The seeds need a bright location to germinate, but direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent overheating and drying out of the soil. Once the seedlings have emerged, gradually acclimate them to higher light levels and increase watering to keep the soil consistently moist.

Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.

Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here.  Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only.  Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.

It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
