Germination of
Echeveria ssp.
Echeveria Mix
To germinate Echeveria ssp. seeds, prepare a well-draining potting mix of half coarse sand and half peat moss. Fill a seed tray with the mix, leaving about an inch of space from the top. Sow the seeds on the surface of the mix, spacing them out evenly. Do not cover the seeds with soil as they need light to germinate. Mist the surface of the mix with water to keep it moist but not waterlogged.
Place the seed tray in a warm, brightly lit location but away from direct sunlight. The ideal temperature for germination is around 70-75F.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
