Germination of
Eriosyce esmeraldana
Esmeralda Cactus: Eriosyce esmeraldana (also known as Emerald Cactus)
To germinate Eriosyce esmeraldana, start by soaking the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours. After soaking, fill a seed tray with a well-draining cactus soil mix and sprinkle the seeds on top. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil and mist lightly with water. Place the tray in a warm, bright location, such as a greenhouse or a sunny windowsill. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged, and germination should occur within 2-3 weeks. Once the seedlings have developed several true leaves, they can be transplanted into individual pots.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
