Germination of
Eucalyptus dalrympleana
Mountain White Gum Tree - Mountain Gum, Eucalyptus dalrympleana
Eucalyptus dalrympleana seeds can be germinated indoors or outdoors. Start by preparing a well-draining soil mix with equal parts peat moss and perlite. Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil mix, and then cover them lightly with a thin layer of soil. Keep the soil moist, but not waterlogged, by misting it regularly. If starting indoors, maintain a temperature of around 68-77F (20-25C) and provide bright, indirect light. The seeds should germinate within 2-3 weeks. If starting outdoors, sow the seeds in a protected area in the fall or early winter, and allow them to overwinter naturally. The seeds should germinate in the spring.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
