Germination of
Eucalyptus Deglupta
Rainbow Eucalyptus - Eucalyptus deglupta, Mindanao Gum, Rainbow Gum
Eucalyptus deglupta, commonly known as the rainbow eucalyptus, is a large tree native to the Philippines. The seeds are best sown in the spring, after the last frost. Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours before planting. Prepare a well-draining soil mix, such as a mixture of peat moss and sand, and sow the seeds 1/4 inch deep. Water the soil lightly and cover the container with plastic to create a humid environment. Place the container in a warm and bright location, and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Germination usually occurs within 2 to 4 weeks.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
