Germination of
Ficus Carica
Common Fig Tree: Edible fig, sweet fig, black fig, white fig, Smyrna fig, Adriatic fig, Kadota fig

Ficus Carica: Ficus Carica, commonly known as fig, can be propagated from seed. To germinate the seeds, soak them in water for 24 hours, then plant them in a well-draining potting mix, covering them with about 1/4 inch of soil. Keep the soil moist and warm (around 75-80F) until germination occurs, which can take up to 4-6 weeks.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
