Garcinia cambogia, Malabar tamarind, Brindleberry, Garcinia gummi-gutta, Kudam puli, Gambooge

GERMINATION METHOD (direct sow vs start indoors, etc.) Start in deep pots with a well-drained but moisture‑retentive medium. Keep warm and humid; expect a long wait. PRE-TREATMENT (scarification / stratification / soaking, only if required) Fresh seed is important. Some studies and nursery notes report improved emergence with careful seed-coat treatments (gentle scarification or partial decoating). SOWING DEPTH About 1–2 cm deep. LIGHT REQUIREMENT (light/dark to germinate) Not critical. TEMP RANGE Warm, steady temperatures. MOISTURE & MEDIUM Even moisture without saturation. DAYS TO GERMINATE Often many weeks to months; can be irregular. NOTES (dormancy quirks, transplant tips, etc.) Do not discard pots early. Keep medium clean and well-aerated to reduce fungal issues.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
