Germination of

Gerrardanthus macrorhizus

Bigfoot Vine, Heartleaf Philodendron, Sweetheart Plant.

Gerrardanthus macrorhizus

Gerrardanthus macrorhizus: Gerrardanthus macrorhizus, also known as wild cucumber, is a fast-growing vine that produces edible fruit. To germinate Gerrardanthus macrorhizus seeds, start by soaking the seeds in warm water for 24 hours to help soften the seed coat. Then, plant the seeds in a well-draining potting mix, covering them with a light layer of soil. Water the soil gently to avoid disturbing the seeds. Place the pot in a warm and bright location, and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Germination can take up to several weeks.

Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.

Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here.  Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only.  Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.

It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
