Squarrosa Bromeliad: Silver Vase Plant, Tillandsia, Air Plant, Squarrose Tillandsia

Guzmania squarrosa

Guzmania squarrosa: The seeds of Guzmania squarrosa can be sown in a mixture of sphagnum moss and perlite. The mixture should be moistened with distilled water before sowing. The seeds should be sown on the surface of the mixture and lightly pressed in. The container should then be covered with plastic wrap or a clear lid to create a humid environment. The container should be placed under bright, indirect light and kept at a temperature between 70-85F (21-29C). The seeds should germinate in 2-3 weeks.

Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.

Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here.  Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only.  Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.

It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
