Germination of
Gymnocalycium stenopleurum 'pink'
Moon Cactus - Chin Cactus, Gymnocalycium mihanovichii
Gymnocalycium stenopleurum 'pink' is a small cactus native to Argentina. To germinate the seeds, it's best to start with a well-draining cactus soil mix. The seeds should be sown on the surface of the soil and lightly covered with a fine layer of sand or grit. The soil should be kept consistently moist but not waterlogged, and the seeds should be exposed to bright, indirect light. It's important to keep the humidity high, so it's recommended to cover the pot with a clear plastic bag or lid until the seeds germinate. Germination should occur in 2-4 weeks.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
