Germination of
Haemanthus albiflos
Paintbrush Flower: Indian Paintbrush, Scarlet Paintbrush, Prairie Fire, Prairie Torch, Texas Paintbrush
Haemanthus albiflos seeds can be germinated by sowing them in a well-draining soil mix with good moisture retention. The seeds should be sown on the soil surface and not buried, as they require light to germinate. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of sand and keep the soil moist by misting it regularly. The ideal temperature range for germination is 15-20C. Germination can take up to 12-16 weeks, so be patient.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
