Hibiscus Coccineus / Hibiscus Semilobatus: Hibiscus coccineus and Hibiscus semilobatus seeds can be germinated by scarification. Nick or file the seed coat lightly, and then soak the seeds in warm water overnight. Sow the seeds in well-draining soil, about 1/4 inch deep. Keep the soil consistently moist and provide a temperature of around 70-80°F (21-27°C). Germination may take 2 to 4 weeks.
