Germination of

Laburnum anagyroides

Golden Rain (Golden Chain): Laburnum, Golden Shower, Bean Tree

Laburnum anagyroides

Laburnum anagyroides: Laburnum anagyroides, or golden chain tree, can be grown from seed. Soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours before planting to help soften the hard seed coat. Fill a small pot with a well-draining soil mix, and plant the seeds 1-2 inches deep. Water thoroughly, and place the pot in a warm, bright location. Keep the soil moist, but not waterlogged. The seeds should germinate in 2-3 weeks, and once the seedlings have a few sets of true leaves, they can be transplanted into individual pots.

Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.

Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here.  Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only.  Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.

It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
