Germination of
Malus domestica
Star Apple - Api Etoile Apple: Star Apple, Chrysophyllum cainito, Caimito, Golden Leaf Tree

Malus domestica: Malus domestica seeds should be stratified for 90-120 days to break their dormancy. Stratification can be achieved by placing the seeds in a plastic bag with moist sand or peat moss and storing it in a refrigerator at 33-38F. After stratification, the seeds should be sown in a well-draining soil mix in a container with drainage holes. The seeds should be sown 1/4 inch deep and then covered with a thin layer of soil. The container should be kept moist and placed in a warm, bright location, but out of direct sunlight. Germination should occur within 2-4 weeks.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
