Manilkara zapota
Sapodilla, Manilkara zapota, Chikoo, Sapota, Naseberry, Chico fruit

GERMINATION METHOD (direct sow vs start indoors, etc.) Sow fresh seed in deep pots; keep warm and bright. PRE-TREATMENT (scarification / stratification / soaking, only if required) Freshness matters most. Brief soaking can help if seeds have dried slightly. SOWING DEPTH About 1–2 cm deep. LIGHT REQUIREMENT (light/dark to germinate) Not critical. TEMP RANGE Warm. MOISTURE & MEDIUM Even moisture in well‑draining mix. DAYS TO GERMINATE Often around ~30 days. NOTES (dormancy quirks, transplant tips, etc.) Avoid root damage when potting up. Keep young seedlings steadily warm and do not allow full dry-down while small.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
