Germination of
Nepenthes madagascariensis
Madagascar Pitcher Plant, Tropical Pitcher Plant, Monkey Cups
Nepenthes madagascariensis: Nepenthes madagascariensis seeds require high humidity and warmth to germinate. Plant them in a mixture of sphagnum moss and perlite or a well-draining soil mix. Cover the container with a plastic lid or wrap to maintain humidity and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Place the container in a warm, bright location with a temperature between 77-86F (25-30C). Germination can take 1-3 months.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
