Germination of

Prunus domestica 'Tiny Sweet'

European Plum 'Tiny Sweet': Prunus domestica (also known as Plum Tree)

Prunus domestica 'Tiny Sweet'

To germinate Prunus domestica 'Tiny Sweet', start by stratifying the seeds by placing them in a plastic bag with moist vermiculite or peat moss and storing them in the refrigerator for 90-120 days. After stratification, fill a seed tray with a well-draining soil mix and plant the seeds about 1 inch deep. Water lightly and cover the tray with plastic wrap or a clear plastic dome to create a humid environment. Place the tray in a warm location, such as on top of a refrigerator or near a heat source, and keep the soil moist. Germination should occur within 2-3 weeks. Once the seedlings have developed several true leaves, they can be transplanted into individual pots.

Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.

Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here.  Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only.  Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.

It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
