Sowing Time: Early spring is the best time to start seeds.
Seed Preparation: Scarify the seeds by gently rubbing them with sandpaper and then soak them in warm water for 24 hours.
Sowing Depth: Sow seeds about 1/4 inch (6 mm) deep in a well-draining cactus mix.
Light Requirements: Place the seeds in a warm area with bright, indirect sunlight.
Temperature: Ideal germination temperature is between 75-85°F (24-29°C).
Watering: Keep the soil slightly moist during germination, but avoid overwatering.
Germination Time: Germination can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months, so patience is necessary.
Transplanting: Transplant seedlings when they are large enough to handle, typically when they have developed a few segments.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
