English Yew: Taxus baccata (also known as European Yew or Common Yew)
Taxus baccata: Taxus baccata, also known as English yew, can be grown from seeds but requires a period of cold stratification. Start by soaking the seeds in room temperature water for 24 hours. Then, place the seeds in a sealed plastic bag with moist vermiculite or peat moss and store it in a refrigerator for 6-8 weeks. After the cold stratification period, plant the seeds in a well-draining soil mix, covering them with a light layer of soil. Water the soil until it's moist but not overly wet, and then cover the pot with a plastic wrap or a plastic bag to retain moisture. Place the pot in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight. The seeds will germinate in about 4-6 weeks. Once the seedlings are established, remove the plastic cover and provide them with adequate sunlight.
