Germination of
Xantostemon Aurantiacus 'Red & Yellow'
New Caledonia Shrub - Rhaphidophora tetrasperma
Xanthostemon aurantiacus 'Red & Yellow', also known as Red & Yellow Penda, is a tree species native to Australia. To germinate Xanthostemon aurantiacus 'Red & Yellow' seeds, start by placing them in a bowl of hot water for 24 hours to help break the seed coat. Then, sow the seeds in a well-draining seed-starting mix and cover them with a thin layer of soil. Keep the soil moist and maintain a temperature of 70-80F (21-27C). Germination should occur within 3-6 weeks. Once the seedlings have emerged, gradually increase light exposure and begin to fertilize with a balanced fertilizer.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
