This is a very slow growing fynbos shrub that produces excellent, long lasting, red flowerheads, beautiful for garden display and as a cut flower, and with its broad blue-green leaves, it makes a perfect shrub for the fynbos garden. A good hardy Protea for the garden that grows to a height from 1.5 to 2 metres with a similar spread. Oval blue-green leaves with red margins and showy deep peach / pink to scarlet flowers fringed with reddish purple hairs up to 150 mm (6 in) across during spring and summer. Flowers are widely used in the cut flower industry.
A very decorative garden shrub that is also suited for growing in containers or a conservatory in cooler climates.
Prefers a light well-drained rich soil in an open sunny position, drought and frost resistant.
